Dana began channeling in 1987, right around the time of the Harmonic Convergence — although she didn’t know it at the time. It was fourteen years later, in 2001, during the time of 9-11, when a co-worker identified her gifts and Dana veered off the road of her traditional life path and whole-heartedly ventured into the realms of esoteric possibility and potential.
Eventually, her awakening catapulted her out of a marriage, a job and family life in Northeastern Colorado. She eventually was drawn to southwestern Colorado, via the San Luis Valley, where she courageously established The Purple Phoenix, LLC in the fall of 2006 in Durango, Colorado. Despite her traditional up-bringing, Shino launched full-intent into providing “Practical Psychic Tools” for her clients and wrote metaphysical articles as a self proclaimed metaphysical journalist for her growing audience — a completely creative use of her journalism degree from Indiana University.
As The Purple Phoenix grew and Dana’s session work and gifts developed, she found greater and greater dissatisfaction with her work as purely a psychic and client’s assumptions that sessions were fortune-telling time. In the spring of 2010, after she and her partner, Bob, lost their son six months into the pregnancy, and Dana nearly lost her life, Dana decided it was time for a few changes, including The Purple Phoenix. On the morning of her decision to change her professional path, a friend from Boulder, Colorado called her and told her, “My Spirit Guides are bugging me to tell you that you’re not a professional psychic, you’re a Spiritual Coach!” It resonated deeply and resulted in that very change.
The shift out of pure psychic work into Spiritual Coaching was also followed by a Reiki I attunement in June 2010, the beginning of healing work in December 2010, a Reiki II attunement in February 2011, and the first of four Shaman Classes at Four Winds in May 2011. The result is what you find here — a combination of practical intuitive tools and hands-on energy work.
In June of 2011, a month after Dana returned home from her first Shaman Class, Dana received multiple nudges to shut down The Purple Phoenix, her website and business of five years. The resulting shift is this website, DanaShino.com. Stay tuned as the journey continues!

Dana Shino has worked with hundreds of clients, logging over 1,000 client sessions; written and published “When Elephants Fly”; written a psychic column for the local Durango Herald; been interviewed by KOA 850′s Rick Barber; sponsored the movie, “Leap,” and “Thrive” in Durango; recorded and produced “Are You Really Psychic? – A Practical Psychic Audio Series” and produced volumes of written work enlightening others about the spiritual journey.
Dana lives with her partner, Bob, their two cats and dog outside of Durango, Colorado. Her spiritual journey and home life are frequently the settings creating the rich palette she writes about for her audience.

The Journey Into Facilitating Intuitive Light Work Sessions:
It was never my intention to do hands-on energy work with clients. As a matter of fact, when my Spirit Guides first suggested it several years ago, I balked at the idea: “No, no, no, no, no, absolutely not,” was my answer. In my mind, I was purely an energy reader and I was not willing to step across the line into the healing touch arena . . .
Thus began the incremental nudging, pushing and finally shoving by Spirit to get me to ante up and do hands-on energy work. The process was sometimes painful, sometimes comical and always an amazing, magical adventure. First, Spirit sometimes elbowed in during sessions and “showed me” how the energy work “worked.” These were moments I was to describe in detail to clients the energy work that Spirit was performing with them — attunments, clearings, energy shifts. I participated in powerful, cathartic moments with Spirit and client, opening the door for energies to flow through. During this window, I lost my shyness and began to simply and minimally do intuitive hands-on energy work.

Then, when Bob and I lost our son during pregnancy, and I nearly lost my life in the springof 2010, the tables of our lives dramatically changed. I was looking at a much different world when I returned to the land of the living. As I gained my footing, the doorway to hands-on energy work opened. I received my Reiki I Attunement in June 2010, going on to use Reiki with myself, Bob, our cats and our bees (I’m a beekeeper and Reiki energy is a wonderful connection in working with bees). Never did I think to use Reiki with clients.
By December 2010, Spirit was literally drop-kicking me through the uprights of hands-on energy work. In a classic set-up, Spirit cornered me into a Reiki session with a client and there was no way out. For as many times as I had said “No,” in the past, I knew I had to say, “Yes” this time. So, I stepped up, provided the session and miraculous energies flowed through, blowing me and the client away. Thank you Spirit.
That was the session I began to understand why Spirit had pestered me so much. They wanted a greater conduit to work through me with others. I was getting in the way and stopping the flow. It was time to say more yes’s and fewer no’s. Within weeks, more sessions arrived, a friend loaned me a Reiki table and it all moved straight ahead as fast as I could keep up. I began to find that what I was providing clients included Reiki as the foundation and than additional energy work, readings, light work and sound work, some of which resembles what is traditionally known as Shamanism. During a session, I literally become the conduit for Spirit to work through me with others.
In the spring of 2011, more doors opened with a profound trip to Maui and later, my Reiki II Attunement, allowing me to use the Reiki symbols and do remote work. My personal Reiki table appeared synchronistically and magically along with my ability to Astral Tone, confirming that yes, this is work I am to do with others. In May 2011, I stepped further into my commitment of embracing my full gift by attending the Four Winds Healing the Light Body – Direction South Class with Alberto Villoldo’s people in Park City, Utah.
As my journey continues, heals, deepens and develops, so do the gifts and energy sessions I can provide you. During sessions, I’m finding that the energies coming through are profound; with work that can provide you with clearing, balancing, attunement and energy shifts.
